Content Use Policy
Museumnetwork.com's goal is to bring the content assets of the world's museums to a convenient and personalized resource for consumers, educators, museum professionals, and lifelong learners.

Our policy is to represent museum content true to its original form, with the express permission of the content owner. The sources of our research and information are always clearly presented and duly credited.

Outline for Research
Our methods are simple: our researchers collect information from more than 33,000 museums worldwide.

All of our researchers are trained extensively on how to correctly collect and input information for our database fields. Researchers are only permitted to work independently after they have proven to understand the project and policies and have had their work reviewed by a member of the editing staff.

Our training includes use of museumnetwork.com's originally developed categorization protocols. Researchers may not cut and paste phrases or sentences from other sources. Researchers are instructed that they are to use their own title and short description based on their review of a museum's Web page. These original descriptions are collected and the information referenced based on museumnetwork.com's list of museum categories.

Quality Assurance

Researchers submit their work on a weekly basis, which is then reviewed by our editing staff before it is made accessible on our Web site. Our editors check all of the following:

  • Referenced URLs are active and link to the correct Web site
  • Titles and short descriptions are accurate
  • Information does not violate museums' copyright policies

All entries go through further reviews periodically to be sure that URLs are still active and up-to-date. Out-of-date content is removed from the site on a periodic basis.
